olympus-4To buy or not to buy?… That´s the question. Since a long time I fancy a new camera for travelling, which is not to heavy but makes some really nice pictures, so I can keep all my memories in the best quality. After I did some research there was one camera I didn´t get my mind off: the Olympus PEN E-PL7. I don´t know why I didn´t buy the damn camera back then. But finally after two years of consideration, I finally decided to buy the Olympus PEN E-PL7.

I am not going to ramble about the technical features that the Olympus PEN E-PL7 offers, because to be honest, I don´t unterstand the half of it (my dad did for me…Thanks Dad!). I searched for a camera that was not too heavy, small but the picture quality should be as good as from “the big ones”: a good travel camera all in all. I have heard from several social media personalities (bloggers, etc) that they use the Olympus for their blog pictures and their vlogging, so I started to read a little bit more about this camera, but especially the blog pictures and vlogs of Lydia inspired me to buy this camera.olympus-1

First Impression:

I bought (of course if you saw my instagram feed) the white version with the nude applications together with the “Pancake” objective with the electrical zoom. The camera came with all the things you need such as charger, a camera strip and all the other bits and bobs. The only Thing I bought additional was an extra battery pack, because I like to have one in reserve when I am out and about for some pictures.

When you first hold the Olympus in your hand, you instantly feel the well made body of the camera, because due to the leader vintage optic, the camera feels very luxurious. There are definatly lighter cameras on the market, but I think that the overall weight is very very good compared to the picture quality. When I did my research online, I read that some people had some difficulties with the menu of the Olympus, but I have to say that I had no issues with that at all. I had more issues with the Wifi connection, but not because of the camera I think, that was due to my phone.

I love detail pictures so I went for the 14-42mm lens. Hands down, the pictures are amazing. They are clear and crisp and even in the automatic setting you will get some great pictures. I am a manual photographer and the manual setting of the Olympus leaves no wishes. It´s easy, fast and gives you those extra good pictures. The video function is great too I think. Sometimes it needs some time until the picture is sharp but I think that this looks cool.

The only thing I am not that exited  about are the creative filters. They work super but I don´t need them because I don´t like the look , but that´s my personal opinion. Something I was exited about and which is incredible, is the screen and how you can turn them. Love it. Incredible is also that you can control the camera by your phone, which is really useful when you want to make a family picture.

What I would change about the Olympus E-PL7:

Something which I was a Little confused about was that the camera itself didn´t have a bag or a cover to put her in. I don´t mean a big camera bag with compartments, but just a little dust bag so that the camera is protected against dirt (especially in a womans handbag something like that is useful….I heard). I am definatly going to buy one. Something which I didn´t like either is the noise the camera makes when she is focusing. When it´s really quiet you can really hear it but in a noisy are it you don´t.

olympus-5All in all I have to say that I think that the Olympus PEN E-PL7 a great camer with many different useful features is, which is brilliant for bloggers and vloggers but also for People who love to photograph but don´t want to spend a batch of money on a camera. I´am really looking forward for some upcoming travel adventures, so that I can use my camera.

Let me know what you think about the Olympus PEN E-PL7 if you own one! Maybe we can learn all some new things!

Love, Sophie
